Resolution on the use of method identifiers
An accredited testing laboratory may use a standard mark in a given field only if the field of application in the scope of the standard contains that field.
If the field of application is outside the scope of the standard, the standard mark can not be used and the accredited body shall have its own unique method identifier (possibly with "adapted" or "with regard to… standard") and validate it.
For example: MSZ EN ISO 17294-2: 2005 Water quality. The use of inductively coupled plasma source mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Part 2: Determining 62 Elements (ISO 17294-2: 2003) The scope of the standard covers the determination of 62 elements in a water matrix. If you want to examine this from solid waste or want to examine an element that is not included in element 62 in a water matrix and / or other matrix, then you need to provide a new method identifier.
The resolution was issued in accordance with the answer to NAH’s question, given by EA Laboratory Committee on 28 March 2019.
