The General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, GDPR) will come into effect on 25 May 2018.
Article 43 of the Regulation certification bodies having an appropriate level of expertise in relation to data protection shall issue and renew certification. Member States shall ensure that those certification bodies are accredited by one or both of the following:
(a) the competent supervisory authority ;
(b) the national accreditation body in accordance with EN-ISO/IEC 17065/2012 and with the additional requirements established by the supervisory authority.
In order to clarify the remaining issues and questions and to compile practical guides in this field, a workshop was organised on 16 January 2018 in Brussels for the stakeholders in accreditation and certification stakeholders. Mr. Miklós Devecz also participated at the event representing the National Accreditation Authority of Hungary.
