Devecz Miklós, the National Accreditation Authority’s (NAH) director general and Abdulla Abdelqader Al Maeeni, director general of Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) have signed a Memorandum of understanding.
The document is a great opportunity for Hungarian businesses, since the parties have agreed upon that they will cooperate in the field of accreditation of Hala Conformity Assessment Bodies in Hungary. The accrediting of Halal Conformity Assessment Bodies will be carried out by NAH and will be in accordance with latest UAE.S 2055-2 and the relevant ISO 17011 standards.
Furthermore the ESMA will provide the training – free of charge – of NAH staff on UAE.S 2055-2, including any Halal specific applicable rules and procedures as well as ESMA online service requirements. The parties will also cooperate in the identification of technical experts to be used in the accreditation process.
Gate to the Halal market
But most importantly the memorandum of understanding states that ESMA will recognize products certified by certification bodies accredited by NAH based on UAE requirements as compliant with Halal requirements established by ESMA.
This means that the Hungarian companies will be able to accredit their products on home turf and will have access to the enormous, and ever growing market covered by ESMA.
