The primary goal of the document is to is to provide a framework for the parties cooperation in the field of accreditation, in particular the field of Halal accreditation. The NAH and the GCC in accordance with this will cooperate in the assessment of conformity assessment bodies applying for accreditation or already accredited by the parties.
Moreover NAH and GCC will help the attendance of conformity assessment bodies on seminars and training courses organized by the other party. Furthermore – amongst others – NAH and GCC have made a commitment to share experience and the sharing of information regarding accrediting.
Moving toward a giant market
At the GCC-EU Trade and Business Cooperation Facility held at the beginning of November 2016 Devecz Miklós has already had a private meeting with – amongst others – Mr. Ahmed Al-Mutairi regarding Halal standards.
The GCC consisting of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain, bought 7.796 million euros worth of agri-food products that represents 6.4% of total EU exports in the field. At the same time entering this huge market is burdensome because of the strict Halal prescriptions. To ease this pressure NAH became the founding member of the International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF).
