Third Halal Industry Platform and further steps in NAH-GAC cooperation

Under the patronage of HE Eng. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, the Global Halal Industry Platform was organized in Dubai, on 19th February 2018. The aim of the event was to discuss the current issues and best practices of the global Halal industry contributing to shape an industry that is able to keep pace with innovation and technology.

The focus was on new emerging technologies in food industry, the development possibilities of slaughterhouse procedures and the ongoing developments as well as on the challenges of Halal trade. In addition to these, the promotion of Halal innovations, the role of the banking empowering Halal industrial innovation, as well as the future of Halal accreditation within the framework of IHAF were also discussed.

The event was attended by Miklos Devecz, the Director General of the NAH since it provided an excellent opportunity to further deepen the cooperation between NAH and the Gulf Cooperation Council Accreditation Center (GCC-GAC) on the basis of a cooperation agreement signed on 26th February 2017.

During the bilateral meeting with Ahmed Al-Mutairi, Director-General of the GAC, the details of the joint GAC-NAH Halal accreditation were discussed and the parties also agreed on a Halal workshop to be organized by NAH in the near future.
