EC report is available on the implementation of Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 setting out the requirements for accreditation and market surveillance

The European Commission published its report to the European Parliament and Council on the implementation of Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 setting out the requirements for accreditation and market surveillance relating to the marketing of Products.

The EC emphasised in its report that the importance of accreditation of conformity assessment bodies has substantially increased over recent years. The work of the EA and the national accreditation bodies is indispensable for the correct functioning of a transparent and quality-oriented market. Through their work a high level of protection of public interests such as health, safety and the environment could be ensured.

This is also proved by the fact that accreditation is increasingly being used in new policy areas, like cyber security and general data protection (GDPR).

The main challenge now is to develop and maintain an accreditation System able to adapt to the new increasing demand and new extending areas efficiently with the latest state of the art technics.
